Robustdetails Screed Floor
Robustdetails Screed Floor
I’m Andy Parkin, Managing Director of the Multi Award Winning Speed Screed. Today I’m here to give you a little more insight into Robustdetails screed floor; I’ll talk about when and why you need this system and the benefits that it brings.
Let’s get started!
Robustdetails screed floor: an overview
Robustdetails screed floor actually accounts for roughly 75% of the cumulative separating floor registrations in the country. There are seven variations to consider, but common across all seven is the resilient layer below the screed and the addition of an edge isolation (this could be either the resilient layer folded up or a strip applied separately).
Robustdetails screed floors have been proven to be an excellent performer when they are constructed in line with the manufacturer’s own guidance and specifications; there are no inherent issues with the system itself.
That said there are instances where attention to detail and a skilled eye are required on site and this is reflected in the fact that 66% of floating screed floors that fell short of the Building Regulations’ standards due to the floating screed not being isolated enough. To avoid this, here are our top tips for compliance:
- Lay the resilient layer over the complete floor surface and make sure the jointing is properly detailed to keep the screed from touching the concrete slab
- Use the products in line with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Ensure the perimeter isolation provides full isolation from over the top of the screed through to underneath as well as between the screed and the skirtings, wall and wall linings.
You should ensure that neither the floor slab, walls, wall linings or skirtings come into direct contact with the screed; to achieve this you must be sure that the joints in the resilient layer are up to scratch prior to the skirting being put in place.
Let’s now have a look at the different types of Robustdetails screed flooring options, all of which do not require a sound test.
- E-FC-4 is a thermal economics IsoRubber resilient floating screed system. It is a precast concrete plank with the screed being laid on a Thermal Economics IsoRubber base resilient layer.
- E-FC-5 is a Cellecta Yelofon HD10+ floating screed system. It is a precast concrete plank with the screed being laid on Cellecta YELOfon HD10+ layer system.
- E-FC-11 is an Icopal MONARFLOOR TRANQUILT floating screed system. It is a precast concrete plank with the screed being laid on Icopal MONARFLOOR TRANQUILT resilient layer.
