All about Thermal Economics IsoRubber Base

I’m Andy Parkin, Managing Director of the Multi Award Winning Speed Screed. Today I’m here to give you a little more insight into Thermal Economics IsoRubber Base.

What is Thermal Economics IsoRubber Base?

Thermal Economics IsoRubber Base is a mat which reduces vibration and sound. Mainly, it is used in timber floor system and concrete floor systems in order to help your building comply with Approved Document Part E, though it is not uncommon for it to be used for general noise reduction and sound proofing purposes. It is the primary acoustic material used in Robust Detail E-FC-4 and E-FC14 systems.

What are the benefits of Thermal Economics IsoRubber Base?

  • It has an extremely long lifespan and will perform for the life of your building.
  • It is compatible with underfloor heating systems and won’t degrade because of them.
  • Thermal Economics IsoRubber Base is incredibly easy to install
  • Made from 90% recycled material meaning it’s great for the environment and makes your building a greener solution.

Applications

Robust Detail E-FC-4

Designed for precast plank floors, this is an under screed insulation system made up of an IsoRubber base below sand and cement or flow screed. In terms of a separation strip you would expect to see and Isoedge 6/260 with a metal frame or Isosonic acoustic ceiling treatment. BREEM credits can be achieved via pre-completion testing.

Robust Detail E-FC-14

Again, this system is used for precast concrete floors and is the first under screed solution which allows you to achieve 3 Code for Sustainable Homes Credits following registration. The same credits apply to the BREEM multi-residency category whereas pre-competed testing is needed for others. In terms of a separation strip you would expect to see and Isoedge 6/260 with a metal frame or Isosonic acoustic ceiling treatment.

Robust Detail E-FC-18

This under screed insulation system is specifically designed for in-situ floors and lends itself to multi-story projects. The resilient acoustic insulation sits beneath sand, cement or flow screed; the perimeter separation strip is used along with an appropriate metal frame ceiling treatment.

Isosonic Basefloor

This is used on precast plank, in-situ concrete, beam and block and steel composite flooring to offer an under screed acoustic insulation solution; it is suited to both new build and refurbishment projects alike. Immediately below your flow screed or sand and cement screed you’ll find the Isorubber Base; a resilient layer which is superb at reducing acoustics. In terms of a separation strip you would expect to see and Isoedge 6/260 with a metal frame or Isosonic acoustic ceiling treatment. Pre-completion tests can help you to achieve BREEAM credits.
