Winchcombe Farm Day Nursery – Screeding Underfloor Heating
Winchcombe Farm Day Nursery is a privately owned day nursery who has provided up to 80 nursery places for children from 6 weeks to 5 years old. They also run a school holiday club for children in school holidays. Providing a safe home-from-home environment for children. This was a screeding underfloor heating commercial project that we completed recently.
Project Fast Drying Screed Requirement
This project already had prepared insulation and underfloor heating when we laid the screed. We made sure to use fast drying screed to reduce program time and allow floor coverings to be laid quickly.
Keracem Eco was used in this project, so any light foot traffic can be allowed only after 8 hours after screeding underfloor heating. The underfloor heating was allowed to be turned after only 3 days, isn’t that amazing?
And because of theĀ fast drying screed, the client was able to lay ceramics after only 24 hours if required (subject to commissioning the system), what a convenience a fast curing screeding underfloor heating system is in reducing the program time.
Mixing Process
As the leading screeding contractor in Banbury, the was mixed screed using a Putzmeister M760 with skip and scraper, which reduced the labour effort when mixing the screed. The Keracem Eco is a rapid drying mineral binder, and is perfect for underfloor heating in both commercial and domestic projects.
Half of the one-tonne bulk sandbags delivered by Jewson’s was placed in the vessel followed by Keracem Eco, water and construction fibres. In this case, we used Adfil Fibrin 660F. Plastic shrinkage and plastic settlement cracking were reduced by using these fibres. The other half of the sand is then added to the vessel. After which, the mixing begins.
For convenience, the screeding underfloor heating mix was pumped to the exact location where it is required, and then the installers lay the screed to provided datums.
